Silent Entry For One-Off McLaren P1 Hybrid At Pebble Beach

Since 2011, McLaren’s Special Operations team have been creating extreme and bespoke examples of the company’s cars for its clients who want something even more exclusive than a ‘standard’ McLaren. And two new MSO creations are about to be unveiled at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in the shape of a McLaren P1 and 650 S Spider.

The car that is almost certain to get the most attention of the two is unsurprisingly going to be the already exclusive and very special P1. Whilst it doesn’t need – or get – any extra power, it does get some extensive cosmetic make-up applied.

The makeover includes a silver finish to the grilles at the front which sit below a gloss carbon fibre bumper. A McLaren Orange speedmark takes pride of place on the bonnet whilst the orange colour is carried over as highlights that extend elsewhere around the car. The highlights offset the Stirling Grey pain work. The alloy wheels are finished in the same colour whilst the brake calipers which hide behind get a heritage finish. Just like the P1 test mules, there is an orange ‘P1’ logo that sits on the leading edge of the rear wheel arch.

In an act of remembrance to the iconic McLaren F1, the exhaust and heat shields have been finished in 24ct gold. The rear spoiler is finished in gloss black on the top but has been left as bare carbon fibre below. A unique aluminium grille has been fitted to the rear bumper which has also been finished in carbon fibre.

Open the door, and you will be instantly struck by the amount of Alcantara and carbon fibre that has been used on the inside. The racing seats – whose shells have been constructed, you guessed it, by carbon fibre – each get a four-point racing harness whilst the seats and trim on the dash has been finished with grey binding and stitching. The air vents get a satin-nickel finish whilst, like the outside, there are McLaren Orange accents throughout the interior. Even the steering wheel is a bespoke MSO addition.
