Amlin Aguri takes 7th Place in the Long Beach ePrix

Amlin-Aguri claimed more points in the inaugural Formula E championship, with António Félix da Costa producing a steady display to finish a credible seventh while Salvador Duran's race ended in disappointment, crashing out on lap 27.

Félix da Costa started seventh on the grid, his highest qualifying position so far this season, but struggled to repeat the searing form which saw him top the podium in Buenos Aires two months ago.

"It was a bit disappointing to be honest, we should have been a bit further up the grid at the end of the race," Félix da Costa said. "Although we were not the fastest cars today, I am very happy because this weekend we took a big step forward in terms of our qualifying pace. We have had good races, and now good qualifying, so we just need to get them both together and I’m confident we’ll get some more podiums.”

Duran started 19th on the grid but his race ended abruptly when the front of his car was clipped by another driver shortly after his mid-race pit stop.

”Qualifying was bad, which put us in a bad position for the race," Duran said. "I had a very good first part of the race and recovered some places but in lap 27 someone passed me and hit my front with his rear and my race was over, but I’m totally fine.”

Mark Preston, Team Principal remained positive despite the mixed result.

“We came away with points but it was a bit disappointing losing time in the pit stop. The actual stop was very good, so we will have to look at what went wrong with our calculations," Preston said.

"Salvador getting taken out by one of the other cars was out of our control and obviously a bit of a shame for him as he was doing quite well," he added.

The race series moves to Europe for the final five races, with Monaco next in the series on May 9th.

"Looking ahead to Monaco I think it is going to be a really fun track, and it is the one that we all love," Preston said. "We have plenty of things to do between now and then, so we can fix the problems with the pit stop timing. Obviously Salvador is going quicker and Antóniowas very fast in qualifying, so we are nearly there, we just have to do a better job in the next race.”

The season then moves to Berlin on 23rd May, Moscow on 6th June before the season's final two races in London on the 27th and 28th of the month. Race Results:
