Honda’s new new-gen Jazz names its price

Honda has released prices and specifications for its new third-generation Jazz supermini. Originally unveiled earlier this spring at the Geneva motor show, the new Jazz boasts a more rounded design and higher quality materials. Just one engine will be available with two gearbox options and three trim levels. The Ford Fiesta rival goes on sale in the UK from September.

Under the bonnet will be a 101bhp 1.3-litre i-VTEC petrol unit. The company says that it is as lively as a larger 1.4-litre unit, but boasts the economy of a smaller capacity 1.2-litre unit. The engine will come as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox, or with an optional CVT automatic transmission. On the combined cycle, the manual version will be able to return up to 56.5mpg on the combined cycle whilst emitting 116g/km of CO2. The newly-developed CVT carries a premium of £1,100 and improves efficiency – with 61.4mpg on the combined cycle a possibility, whilst emissions fall to 106g/km of CO2.

The three trim levels are S, SE and EX.

The entry-level S costs from £13,495 and features air conditioning, cruise control with speed limiter, auto lights and Honda’s ‘City-Brake Active’ – designed to help mitigate low speed collisions.

The mid-level SE model costs from £14,595 and adds parking sensors at both ends, electric heated door mirrors, 15-inch alloy wheels and a Driver Assistance Safety Pack (featuring Forward Collision Warning, Traffic Sign Recognition, Intelligent Speed Limiter, Lane Departure Warning and auto high-beam). Like the range-topping EX, the SE model also features Honda’s Android-based Connect infotainment system which comes with a seven-inch dynamic screen with pinch, swipe and tap interface, web-browsing ability and a variety of pre-installed Apps.

The EX costs from £15,715 and adds keyless entry, climate control, an upgraded audio system, larger 16-inch alloy wheels and front fog lights.

The SE and EX is available with an optional integrated Garmin satellite navigation system.

The new Jazz will arrive in Honda’s showrooms from September.
